The ‘Janet’ Heard Round the Globe

Marketing a space like id isn’t easy. Which thing do you talk about; the overnight stays, the mission, the vintage store of it all? Exactly.

So, we take the buckshot approach; we talk about everything to everyone. That includes all the folks we buy our inventory from. If we are getting a 1960’s tissue box cover from you, you can be very confident we are going to let you know about how happy it will make the guests at our disability-friendly, short-term rental outside of Boston.

You get the idea!

And that is how we met Caroline, the author of our article in the Boston Globe. She is a journalist, but her side hustle is slinging vintage. Enter Janet. Janet is a candle shaped like a bird who we bought from her to sit on the counter and welcome our guests. Of course, Caroline got our speech about who we are and what we do. Instead of just thinking, “wow, that’s cool”, we imagine she thought, “wow, that’s cool, I think I’ll write a super cool article about it, and I’ll bet a newspaper will pick it up!”

And they did.

The Boston Globe put our little venture right there in the Sunday paper.

So, you see, our approach to marketing has merit. That’s why there is a good chance if you give us directions to the bathroom at a restaurant, we will likely say, “thanks, and do you know where you can find a super cool bathroom right outside of Boston that is disability-friendly, and also a vintage store…”
